Pumphutt der Hexnmeestr dr Äbrlausitz

As a wandering miller's boy Pumphutt trekked from mill to mill. He worked hard at many windmills and watermills with lots of dust and noise. He loved to do jokes for good hospitality. But when he had to suffer and only got low wages he liked to punish the ungrateful and mean miller masters with crude jokes. In the places around the mills he always helped to make good. He got even sharply with evil.
With his high pointy and wide-brimmed hat he made a pilgrimage a long time ago to Mockrehna, to Vogtland, to Bohemia into the Khaa-Valley, into the Oberlausitz, to Bautzen, to Sora and also to Wilthen.
image author: Jürgen Bollmann The headmaster Franz Rösler retd. from Wilthen designed the stature of the Pumphutt and the artist Franz Rosche from Rozany (Rosenhain) carved the figure from wood.
The first head-high Pumphutt with outstretched arms was put on the base on the 19.08.1939 at the Wilthener Pass opposite the woodland restaurant "Jägerhaus".
