Minster St. Annen takes, with its numerous events and exhibitions an important place in the religious and cultural life of the town Kamenz.
The church, inaugurated in the year 1499, was part of a Franciscan monastery that was used later as school for Latin, where Lessing took classes. It burnt down in 1842; the affiliated church survived.
Its gable was renewed after plans by Gottfried Semper.
The three-aisled Minster owns valuable interior with late-gothic Schnitzel altars and sculptures.
Sightseeings are possible by arrangement.

The monastery was located in front of the city's gates at the time of construction. An opening through the city wall was authorised in the year 1518.
The monks created an entrance to the town with the monastery gate.
