An observatory is a place with scientific instruments for the observation of the starlit sky, of celestial bodies or other objects in space.
The observation respectively measurements take place usually with telescopes, today more and more also with antennas.
An observatory that is mainly operated for the reason of guided tours and adult education is also called people's observatory.
