Gustav Schneider founded his plumbing and installation company on the 1st of April 1889 at the Rosenstraße and is probably one of Bautzen's oldest facilities in this sector. The associated shop offered till the twentieth-century every imaginable household article and sanitary equipment but also lamps and chandeliers. It was the high time of the gas light, whose installation and maintenance was a big part of their work at the workshop. The company became bankrupt in the inflation years; the father could only keep the workshop. At the beginning of the 50s Johannes Schneider re-established his small business again, which he had lost through the post-war 'fire'. His son Bernd, born in 1946, was already interested as a child in his father's business and tried his hand in the workshop during his school time Gradually the company also changed: thanks to very new materials and technologies the work became more diverse, the demands on the professionals became distinctly higher. With company offers came training and necessary qualifications to install and maintain the new technique.

The enterprise remained true to family business. Master Bernd Schneider is being supported today by his children. Son Torsten created with his traineeship at the paternal company the first basis for a 4th craftsman generation. Today he is your contact partner for the installation of all sanitary facilities. And daughter Silvia took over bathroom planning with 3D-computer programmes, she processes and draws up floor plans and takes care of customers .
