Natural Stage Reichenau

It actually started in the 50s. At that time a amateur dramatic group that performed cheerful folk plays was founded. That was then common in many villages. There were plenty of occasions: folk festivals, school festivals, club festivities. Open-air performances took also place as for example at the Tiefental. We explain later. Art is a individual thing, connected to persons who have lots of ideas, But with Paul Lattig's untimely death, then manager and organiser of the amateur dramatics the theatre in the village fell asleep for a few years.

Once when villages still had schools, school festivals took place regularly. This also happened every five years in Reichenau and Reichenbach. Highlight of this folk festival was always the table of events on the Saturday night. The time came again in 1970. School children from both villages performed little plays from local history. Many liked this so much that they decided to revive the amateur dramatics.
Interested people were quickly found, some had already played earlier. A few months later the first performance was ready. The management of the group was taken on by the teacher Werner Fuchs, who brought lots of amateur theatre experience from his home, the Vogtland, with him. There he had managed the amateur dramatic group for many years.
The premiere took place at the hall of the Reichenau inn on the 12th of December 1970 with the two little comedies "Rosen für Inge" and "Ein freudiges Ereignis". Ten further productions were to follow in surrounding villages.
A new beginning was created; the audience had accepted the amateur dramatics and its art.

It is said that big chances produce great art. The social changes since 1989 held great difficulties for the amateur dramatics. Monetary reform, unemployment left their marks.
There were of course also highlights like the participation at the international theatre festival in Saarbrücken 1990 with the play "Die Streiche des Scapin".
The player of the amateur dramatics and the citizens founded on the28.02.1992 the "Naturbühne Reichenau-Pulsnitztal e.V".
In the beginning one toured with the play "Herr Peter Squenz", then in the year 1994 it was decided to use the stage regularly during the summer months. The success was modest at the start. Only in 1998 when the classic comedy "The Fire Tongs Bowl" was performed increased the audience dramatically.
