Stadtmuseum Hoyerswerda
image author: Peter Hennig The Stadtmuseum Hoyerswerda is located in the palace, which was built in the 13th century originally as a moated castle, adjacent to the zoo.
Apart from changing special exhibitions awaits the visitor on 200 square metres exhibition space permanent exhibitions with the themes:

- Between Bohemia and Electoral Saxony
- The era of industrialisation - Hoyerswerda from 1900 to 1955

- Jürgen von Woyski - Personal Exhibition
Regional characteristics are the Sorbs language and culture. The record preservation of the Sorbian peoples and collections about their cultural developments and lifestyle are part of the museum's work.
Through the city surrounding brown-coal opencast mining were extensive archaeological finds made from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages. The museum gained through this special importance.
