Zoo Hoyerswerda

The Zoo Hoyerswerda is situated in the city centre, next to the palace.
On an area of 6ha accommodates the zoo more than 1000 animals of 200 species. The wonderful former palace park with its handsome stock of trees, the large water bird pond and the new created moat is a great setting.

The squirrel monkeys climb as lively "high wire artists" over a rope from their enclosure over the heads of the visitors to the big meadow at the birds' lake.
The new adventure playground and the petting zoo are special attractions for our little visitors. The beautiful park with numerous old trees and rest areas are ideal for relaxing. Boards at the enclosures and educational trail give the respective information. The zoo also has zoo school. Sculptures and artworks decorate the park. The Zoocafe with terrace and kiosk take care of your hunger. Diverse events top off the animal park Hoyerswerda's offers. It ranges from hearty brass music, choirs and country music to symphony concerts. Annual highlight is the popular zoo festival, always on the last July weekend.
