Butterberg
image author: www.butterberg.com
With its mountain hut and viewing tower is the 385 m high Butterberg near Bischofswerda a popular excursion destination.
The mountain owes its name to an medieval incident during the plague epidemic. Apparently farmers put down butter as provision at the edge of the forest for Bischofswerda's affected citizens.
One has to mention the many events, which are organised by the owners regularly.
The viewing tower offers a view over the surrounding villages, over Bischofswerda and to the hills of the Oberlausitz Highlands
